Guitar amp simulation

Guitar amp simulation

I’m getting back into recording some guitars. It’s been a long time since I did any recording work and I’m digging through my DAW and looking through my different VSTs. I always forget what I was using in the past so I’m going to write a few notes up here.

Old school stuff Is the LePou simulation stuff. I have these on my computer but I realized that they sort of disappeared from the internet. There is a guy that is unofficially mirroring the files here https://www.osirisguitar.com/lepou/

I remember using the LeCab cab simulator the most out of this pack. I’m not sure if these work on modern M1 Macs or not.

I have used the mainstream plugins like NI Guitar Rig but I haven’t found them to be that useful in my mixes. They sound pretty great on their own though. Amplitube is similar.

My favorite amps right now are from Audio Assault. I have been using the 5050 amp which is an EVH copy of the 5150 I believe.

There may be others but just wanted to get this written up for now. Enjoy!
