Hardware synths

Hardware synths

I’m starting to thin the herd of hardware that I have accumulated over the last few years. I started out basically by buying an Elektron Machinedrum back when they first discontinued it. I got one of the last MKII Userwave editions new in I think 2016 or so. After that I got the bug to get some of the hardware that I wanted but couldn’t afford back when I started like the Access Virus.

I kept accumulating things but now I’m realizing that there are only a few things that I use. I’m going to take some notes here about them.

Moog Minitaur – This thing is amazing. I don’t know how it sounds as big as it does but I have the Moog Slim Phatty as well and I pick the Minitaur every time. It’s annoying that you can’t edit everything from the front panel. You need the software editor to change params like key retrigger (which apparently I always want to enable but many of the factory patches are set to a legato mode that I find difficult to play. Maybe it’s only me?)

Mostly I just want to keep my analog stuff. Digital synths you might as well be using a VST right? Well maybe with the exception of the Virus. And the Shruthis. By the way I have 3 of them.

Shruthi – I have three of these little digital DIY synths. I have one with the Mission 4 pole filter, one with the original filter and one with the Roland filter chip.
