Reaktor drum programming

I was digging through some old files and I found a NI Reaktor patch that I was working on. I was on a kick doing some Reaktor stuff way back in Reaktor 3 or 4 where I was trying to emulate the Access Virus synth. I couldn’t afford a Virus back then and I had a copy of Reaktor so I tried to re-create that magic.

I was relatively successful in doing that and some kind soul on the DnB forum Dogs On Acid created my presets for that synth. What a cool scene.

Anyway on to this. I’m treating Reaktor as a problem solving tool. Sort of like Max 4 Live maybe. Here is a screenshot:

The idea here is to do some layering and drum synth things in order to make a kick ass flexible drum synth. I started this idea back when I couldn’t find many good drum synths. Now I think there are some pretty good ones like the Kick etc.

Anyway this is a good reminder that Reaktor can be a really cool tool for prototyping what you want quickly in the case that no VST exists for what you are trying to do.
