Revisiting favorite VSTs

I’m digging back through my archive of old stuff and looking to see what I used to use in my tracks. One thing I found was Audiodamage Axon drum VST. This is a peculiar plugin. I used the original version I think. Or maybe version 2.

Looks like there is a new version 3 out now. I’m trying out the demo.

There is an old arpeggiator from Insert Piz Here. It’s 32bit and doesn’t work with Ableton. I got it sort of working again in FL Studio.

This plugin forms sort of a sequencer that can function as an arpeggiator through the use of the scale and transpose channel. There are some fiddly UI things like setting the loop requires a right click to set the end point. Also host sync mode needs to be set to “sample” in order for the loop to be free running with respect the the DAW timeline (it still uses the host tempo).

Unsync loop lets the loop start from the beginning with each note on received. Note offs stop the playback. This is a weird plugin to get working but it’s really cool once you see what it can do.

Playing around with this makes me wonder if something like SEQ32 could be converted to a VST plugin.
